The Erica Groat Memorial Scholarship Fund was established at FaithfulHearts Equine Learning Center to honor the life and legacy of Erica Lynn Groat, a gifted horsewoman whose faith, kindness, and love for animals touched countless hearts.
- FHELC is honored to continue Erica’s mission of sharing the peace, joy, and healing presence of God that she found through her connection with horses by offering this scholarship to FHELC participants.
- Scholarship funds help provide opportunities for individuals who might not otherwise be able to participate in equine-assisted learning and therapy programs.
- This fund exists through the generosity and dedication of Erica’s parents, who are active volunteers and contributors at FHELC. Their ongoing support ensures that Erica’s legacy continues to make a lasting impact in the lives of others.
- Buckle Sponsorship donations directly support the Erica Groat Memorial Scholarship Fund, allowing even more participants to experience the life-changing connection between horses and humans.
About Erica
From the time she was little, Erica’s heart belonged to horses. She spent her childhood surrounded by model barns, stuffed horses, and horse books — dreaming of the day she would have one of her own. That dream came true when she was just 11 years old, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning, devotion, and grace.
Erica went on to earn a degree in Equine Business Management, turning her childhood passion into a purposeful career. She had a God-given gift for understanding horses — sensing what they were feeling and responding with patience, empathy, and kindness. Those who watched her work often said it was like witnessing a quiet conversation between souls. Erica truly embodied what it means to be horse-minded, guided by both heart and Spirit.
Her Legacy of Love and Faith
Erica’s love for animals and people reflected the gentleness of Christ’s love. She shared her knowledge freely with family, friends, and clients — teaching not only about horsemanship, but also about compassion, joy, and the beauty of life.
A client once wrote
“It was marvelous to see her passion, her unselfconscious delight, her gracefulness with horses and with people. We learned so much from Erica — about horses, about ourselves, and about the joy of living. She gave a lot of herself, and the world is a better place for what she gave.”
Though Erica’s time on earth was far too short, her spirit continues to live on through the lives she touched, the horses she loved, and the opportunities this scholarship provides to others who share her passion.
